Carrying On

Breaking, falling, crashing;
So goes the life of the Raven.
Dark as night, and just as feared
Is the poor bird which I hold
In hands clammy and damp
With the tears of passing.
No longer can my dear friend fly free
On wings knowing all mistakes
Above, Below, and even farther down.
The Raven looks upon the Below
With the hope of the Above,
But with the eyes of his siblings.
The air surrounding the wings he earned
Is forced to exert its newfound power
Upon the benevolent ill-conceived Raven.
His only mistake, the pity
In his pitiful sympathetic heart
And the direction in which he flew.
Soaked beauty, enhancing his sacrifice
To protect us below, only to leave
The Above, Below, and Far Below
For the restful and peaceful Nothing.
